We ❤️ Academie voor Beeldvorming

The careful reader may have noticed our artistic practise is connected with Academie voor Beeldvorming. On this page we will show you the evolution of our relationship.

During our graduation process we invited Rieneke de Vries and Klaas Burger from Academie voor Beeldvorming to participate in The Alternative Committee. We felt a connection.

After making some kind of publication on the work of Rieneke de Vries, we proposed to collaborate and realize a residency in a nursing home. A first date.

Looking for a studio in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, we accompanied Academie voor Beeldvorming in their collective workspace called De Cactus. Already moving in together!

On the invitation of Academie voor Beeldvorming we did a small research project at a walk-in. We got more familiar with eachother.

The dating process started. We got to know each other by writing texts about the history of Academie voor Beeldvorming and other research projects.

In our search of working more collectively and sustainable we decided to marry our artistic practises. Now we are part of the artistic team and finally reachable.

We participated in the artistic research about aging in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, called Lang Leve..! Slowly our responsibilities grew.

The organisation and ambitions are fueled by a professionalization trajectory. We got more close as a team and are growing like a biotope.

We now are used to each other and the organisation becomes a platform for us to play with our position and think about more sustainable ways of existing.

Maybe always flirted with the Academie voor Beeldvorming, but is now embraced within the organisation and gets appointed as Special Manager.

The first collaboration between Malou van Doormaal and Maybe Boozegeoisie takes form in All Inclusive. An artistic action research project about feeling welcome and at home.

During the corona lockdown we looked for ways to connect our queer community with the artistic one. This resulted in an unconventional dating program called IN DE (S)MAAK.

The Drag Up Family is a community around drag culture. This is evolving from a private living room to a more public space for artistic queer experiment.

Maybe showed some guts by applying for a job at the local library. After an initial refusal Maybe will start working in the library and bring the learning process of All Inclusive along.

The artistic action research about the health gap makes it possible to intertwine different ways of working from the artistic team. We love each other more and more.

And more coming up!

With our involvement with Academie voor Beeldvorming we aim to develop our practise in a sustainable way. We want to center care and shared responsibility. It’s a learning process where we have the possibility to connect with lots of people in different habitats. We may be married but our relationship is always open to flirtation and more partners. ❤️
