The exhibition ‘Victor Papanek: The Politics of Design’ in Design Museum Den Bosch is about the ideas and work of this visionary designer, critic and activist Victor Pananek (1923-1998). His famous 1971 book ‘Design for the Real World: Human Ecology and Social Change’ represents a radical vision of design in which sustainability and social justice are more important than consumption and commerce.
But where are we half a century later? Are contemporary designers still (or again) working on these themes? Design Museum Den Bosch asked several artists and designers to respond to these ideas. Is design a luxury product? Who should be engaged in the design process? Klaas Burger and Maybe Boozegeoisie respond to those questions in a video.
