The discussion about safety is growing. We should protect ourselves against EVERYTHING. So how should a festival position themselves in this debate? A year before the corona pandemic, in the summer of 2019, we challenged Totaalfestival Bladel to make this the safest festival of the area.
During six days we checked shoelaces at the entrance of the festival and dismantled various locations. Dangerous and harmless. We gave a workshop for children to protect themselves against the burning sun and difficult parents. We littered a toilet cubicle with sometimes confusing commandments, prohibitions and warning signs. On Saturday evening we distributed condoms. On the last day everything started to take on a life of its own.
