How to use the semi-public space of stores without being a consumer?
In the context of the Artist Ambassador Convention, we organised in collaboration with Gijs Velsink a skype meeting in which participants will meet each other, using the free WIFI of shops. Not the coffeebars, but the clothing stores, garden centre and bookshops.
This is part of a series performative interventions where we are investigating how to use the semi-public spaces of stores without being a consumer. A lot of stores have the possibility to sit down, on couches or chairs, so we are using those to have meetings, eating our lunch and read. But next to that, we are also using the music to dance, the shopkeepers as counselors and the stairs to work out…The internet is not a floating space, but depending on servers and routers and is an important part of the ‘mobile autonomy’ of the artist.
