At January 6 each year, the christmas tree is not welcome anymore. The light has been celebrated, the bellies are full, the days are getting longer and the christmas decorations are moved to storage.
The christmas tree, raised for a minimum of 6 years by the gardner, was carefully picked and decorated by the whole family. It was a symbol of unity, family and maybe even love. But after three weeks we’re done with being nice. The tree is being repelled and uncarefully dropped at the pavements. Sometimes they get replanted, but most people don’t take the time or effort.

Together with Monika Murawska we organised the Facebook event ‘The christmas tree after christmas‘. It was an open call for ‘quick ‘n dirty’ artistic interventions with those trees. With this we hoped to raise more awareness for these trees being dumped on the streets, after only a short moment of aesthetic and symbolic use.
