UNREALISED PROPOSAL – We got the chance to develop a proposal for the public space around a newly built parking garage in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. A nearby park is rarely used by residents. To give this place a new dynamic and attract visitors, we did a very inefficient proposal to build a mountain by hand.
Maybe it’s a possibility that there might be something like a heap of sand, or at least some kind of height reaching vertically upwards, in a place where they made a fairly flat attempt to keep the water away, in the sense that a system pumps moisture from the ground while there could also just be a mountain. Let’s move the sand from side to side with human power, manually – with a spade, big or childlike – that makes this digging a physical and spiritual involvement, because one simply is digging a hole in the ground, at the same time moving the sand into the contours of something which may be a mountain.
